Anyone up for a little contest??

I am so so so so so SO excited for you guys to meet Paige!!

I may have left off a so or two right there. 😉

I recently shared the back cover copy on my Facebook Page (courtesy of NavPress!) and so I thought I’d share it here too!

The girl who does it all might miss what’s most important.

Everyone knows they can count on Paige Alder. But between volunteering
at church, putting in overtime at work, and helping her best friend plan
an anniversary party, she’s lucky to grab a cheese stick for dinner.
She can’t even remember the last time she had a few minutes to relax or
dig into God’s Word. Then she meets laid-back Tyler, an attractive,
Jesus-loving guy. Will he be able to help Paige get her priorities on
track?

AND… (drumroll please!) I do think it’s time for a contest to win a copy of Paige! 🙂

You have a few ways to enter (you can do a separate comment for each one!):

1. Leave me a comment letting me know your favorite breakfast food. No reason why. I’m just curious. 😉
2. Share the link to this blog on Facebook or Twitter and come back and let me know you did!
3. Become a follower of this blog! (and then leave another comment letting me know that) 🙂

I will draw the winner on the night before the official release day – so April 30th!!!

Yay! 🙂 Good luck!!

*** Edited to add: My awesome and amazing publicist, Jeane Wynn, had this to say: “Plus
Erynn’s publicist, that would be me, will also throw in a prized
exclusive advance galley of Erynn’s next book in the series, Paige
Rewritten coming in Fall 2013 PLUS, a Starbucks card & a surprise!” SO FUN!! Thank you, Jeane!!!!!****

Yep. It has happened.

Y’all.

It has come to my attention that I am officially a BOY MOM.

I can now throw a football. I can wedge my hand into the tiniest baseball glove ever and catch a ball. And, not to brag, but I can play swords with the best of them.

While I used to freak out when Nathan would get a goose egg or a scrape, now it’s nearly second nature to reach in my purse or open the bathroom cabinet for the ready and available band-aids. I’ve realized that he will just always be covered with bumps, bruises and scabs. And my kisses can cure just about anything.

I know the fine art of assisting a hundred Matchbox cars plunge to their fiery deaths over the edge of a bookcase. I have discovered the intricacies involved in creating a pirate ship out of nothing but a couch, a bathroom stool and a couple of throw pillows. And, possibly most impressive, I have learned not to care what my house looks like until after bedtime.

I know more about pirates, dinosaurs, Mater, Jake, Curious George, shake and race cars and poking it down on the potty than I ever dreamed I would know or need to know.

I have roared, growled, arg-ed, yelled “batter up” and listened to a little boy, who is already giggling at himself when he burps at the table, do all of the same.

Years ago, I thought Jon and I would probably have all girls. And I was ready for it. Pretend makeup, toenail polish, little dresses and tiny skinny jeans – I was ready. I was the girliest girl ever as a kid. Now, all of my friends have girls and we’ve babysat for them on occasion. They are totally content to sit on the couch and watch a movie or read books while daintily eating their snacks so they don’t mess up their hair.

While my son is flying off the couch weilding a sword with a bandana tied around his head yelling, “I’M HAPPEN HOOK! YOU’D BETTER RUN, MOM!”

Someday, God willing, I hope we have a girl.

But right now, it’s crazy, it’s insane, things get broken in my house. It’s never quiet, it’s never clean and the most terrifying sound in the world is “oh no” followed by the toilet flushing. Dirt is scrubbed out from someone’s fingernails every night and I now consider shorts and light up Woody cowboy boots to be a store-appropriate outfit.

I’m a boy mom, folks. And I am loving every minute of it. 🙂

Hard worker guys

This weekend, we spent the majority of the time working on our backyard. We decided to use some of the space in the back and plant a garden.

Because plants just love us.

Nathan, though, is in his ELEMENT when we are outside working. The boy is the hardest worker…even if he’s causing five times more work for Jon. He loves every second of working outside around the house. And everything Jon did, Nathan had to do, including turning his hat backwards. I’m pretty sure his new favorite tool is a “shobel”.

He had to put his saw right on top of Jon’s when they were done cutting the wood. ha! He loves helping his daddy.

He also loves break time with a watermelon. 😉

Our dear friends Shannon and Eric came over on Sunday to help and Shannon came with me to get Nathan out of the boys’ hair. My sister Cayce ran in the Color Me Rad race, one of those 5Ks where they spray you with different colors the whole time you are running. She did really well and Nathan loved holding up her sign.

He kept saying, “You is really dirty, Tayce!” Then he colored his own poster today and had me hold it up while he ran laps around the house. ha!

He has the best imagination – he is getting to the point where he will play for hours with his toys in his play room, making up stories and acing everything out. It’s SO cute. Today he set up his two stools as pirate ships. He was Peter Pan and his owl was Captain Hook.

Love that crazy kid.

Albuquerque friends!!

Fun news for all my Albuquerque friends! I will be having a booksigning for Paige Torn on May 4th!

Please do come and say hello! I will be selling and signing copies and I would love the chance to meet and chat with you! 🙂 And Hadley’s Tea is a beautiful, fun place – we would love to see you!

Prayers for all those families affected by the Texas accident and the families in Boston. I love this song by Chris Tomlin when things in this world aren’t making sense. We live in a fallen place, friends. May we only be reminded that this is not our true home and may we be inspired to share the news of Jesus to our hurting world.

Love to all of you! Hope I get to meet some of you in a few weeks. 🙂

Wook, Mom! iPads!

Well, friends, I’ll start with an apology because I realize it has been a long time since I last wrote. My May 1st deadline for the third book in the Paige series is sneaking up on me a lot faster than I was expecting! All that to say, I should finish my deadline by Friday and I’m so excited/relieved that it will be completed soon. 🙂

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

We went to the aquarium and botanical garden with Evie and Gracie on Friday. Love those girls.

On Saturday, we had a party for our dear friends, Julia and Julia. 🙂 We had a few places to go before the party so we decided a stop by Krispy Kreme was probably essential.

Our new “rest time” instead of nap time is going okay most of the time. I will confess that it makes every day starting around 4pm to be absolutely miserable for everyone around us. I walked in and found him like this in front of Finding Nemo the other day though:

So sweet. And nights have been a lot easier, though car trips have become like this now as well:

Today, Nathan was desperate to have Kody play baseball with him and kept grabbing his paw to try and shove it into a glove. Kody, needless to say, was not super excited about that idea. So, I talked Nathan into playing with MeMo instead. You probably can’t see them, but MeMo has “ipads” on his arms (or “armbands” like most people call them). Ha!

And friends who live in Albuquerque! Stay tuned because I have super fun news about Paige Torn coming up for you guys! 🙂

Little Chef

Last Sunday, we decided to pull out the popsicle mold I bought at the end of the summer last year and make our first batch of homemade popsicles. Someone was quite excited. 😉

They turned out pretty good! Uncle Bryant came by to share one which made Nathan pretty stoked.

Gammy had some work done on her car today so Nathan and I went and picked her up, did a few errands and then played at “Chick-fur-way” for a little bit. It was a good morning. 🙂

On our way back to our house, Nathan said, “Gammy, are you coming to my house?”

She said, “Yes, Nathan. Is that okay?”

He said, “Well, I think so. But our house is really dirty so you need to go in and lay down on the couch and close your eyes so we can vacuum real fast.”

Because that is how we like to welcome guests into our home.

For the last couple of weeks, Nathan has been having a VERY hard time going to bed at night. It would take him two hours sometimes to stay in his room and go to sleep. And then he would be up very early. It was getting to be a very frustrating thing for me and Jon because we only have an hour or so at night after he goes to bed to spend time together since Jon has been doing homework for his master’s degree every night.

So, yesterday, my mom suggested not putting him down for a nap and seeing if that worked. We did a “rest time” instead and the boy was in bed asleep at 7:40 and didn’t wake up for twelve hours.

Honestly, I was a little bummed it worked because that meant that NAPS ARE NO MORE.

I feel like I was robbed of my mourning period.

Today, I put on Ratatouille and he laid on the couch with his blanket and Mickey Mouse (or MeMo as he’s affectionately known here) and I managed to get all of my word count written in the time it took for him to watch the movie.

So afterward, he had to act out the movie. Here’s our chef making a BLT for Gammy:

And here’s the “Little Chef” who was helping him:

It’s never dull here. 😉
