Happy Easter from the O’Briens

Praying that you all have a wonderful Easter richly blessed by our risen Lord!

For those of you waiting with me, here is our hope for tomorrow: “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength.” – Isaiah 40:28-31

Love to you all!

Not the post I was expecting

I was going to write a little bit about our weekend and post pics of us going to the zoo with the Lunch Bunch, but a certain little boy who lives here woke up at 1:45am last night throwing up and pretty much did that until close to 6am.

Poor little guy. We didn’t get tons of sleep last night. Poor Jon was up all night cleaning up our baby and still had to go to work today. 🙁 So thankful for my amazing husband! Nathan seems to be a little better this morning. He’s been able to keep toast down for a little bit. Hoping that continues to be the case! He’s so into pirates lately that I did a special treat and rented Peter Pan on Amazon Instant video for him. So far that seems to be helping. 🙂

So, in the meantime, I wrote about my start in writing over on Scribble Chicks. Would love for you to come by!

Stay healthy, everyone!

Jump

Last week, we went to a brand new indoor trampoline park here in town.

And guys, it was SO fun. Nathan went ballistic. We went from nine until ten in the morning and he was fighting sleep as we drove out of the parking lot. You know it’s fun when you are there for an hour and it completely wipes you out!

We all got “tattoos” at the jump place and Nathan thought it was amazing. He is such a boy.

Afterward, we got all dressed up (ha!) and headed out for an anniversary dinner at… Chick-fil-a. Ha! 😉 Jon was a little sick and we decided to save our real anniversary dinner for another night, so we went to the only place we could think of where we could still have some semblance of a date. It worked great. Nathan scarfed down his nuggets and fruit so he could go play and Jon and I got to sit there for about an hour talking while a sweaty boy would occasionally run off, slurp down some apple juice and leave again. 🙂

Love my family! Excited to see what God has in these next five years. 🙂

“How can we live, never meeting you?” cried Lucy.
“But you shall meet me, dear one,” said Aslan. “But there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.”

This post is brought to you by the letter “S”

S is for Spring Break

Right now, Jon is on Spring Break and while we discussed a lot of different places for us to travel to this week, we ultimately decided that for finances and for just relaxation, it would be good to stay home. We’ve done a few projects around the house and today, we have spent the entire day resting around the house. Very needed! Nathan has been super into pirates lately so Jon made him a “Captain Hook” pancake and a Mickey Mouse pancake. He was pretty stoked. 😉

S is for Skiing

Nathan skied for the first time this last weekend! I was SO proud of him. Big thanks to Uncle Bryant for breaking his back teaching him! 😉

Isn’t he about the cutest skier you’ve ever seen?

S is for Silliness

Gammy found these matching snow shirts for her and Nathan – so cute!

And I love this picture. Nathan was “teaching” Pops how to play a game on the iPad. 😉

S is for Snow

Someone loved, loved, loved the snow – he is his daddy’s boy.

Such a fun trip with the family!!

S is for So…what are you up to this spring break?? 🙂

Let it snow

We have just come back from a fantastic (and very short!) trip to Durango to do some relaxing, playing in the snow and drinking hot chocolate.

And guess who went skiing for the first time ever?

I have lots of fun pictures to share tomorrow! 🙂

This week is Jon’s spring break, so we are soaking up the Daddy time. This morning, Jon made us pancakes and we were talking about what we could do today while we were eating. Nathan set his fork down, held his hands up and with big eyes said, “GUYS. Here’s what we could do! Let’s go to the mall and take our suitcases and ROLL THEM THROUGH THE MALL.”

We did not end up doing that today. Just so you know.

Get your head in the game

I must have done something weird to my neck when we were finishing up the garage on Saturday because I woke up Sunday with a stiff neck and by yesterday, it was sore all the way down to my shoulders. It’s a little better today, but I’ve spent the past two days on the couch alternating ice packs and heating pads and turning my entire body instead of just my head.

I feel about 89 years old.

Which has made keeping Nathan entertained something of a challenge. So, I decided we were going to have a couple of days watching movies in our jammies. Yesterday, I was scrolling through the Netflix library to try and find something that wasn’t Diego and found High School Musical, which I saw a LONG time ago and I turned it on to see if Nathan would like it.

We have now watched it three times in less than 24 hours. The boy is obsessed with the “basketball movie”. We even had to drag his basketball and hoop out into the living room so he could dance and play like Troy in the movie.

SO funny.

And can I just say that I’m pretty sure he has the cutest little jammie bottom ever? 😉

Today was fun, tomorrow is another one

Last Friday, my sweet neighbor invited Nathan and I to come over to help her boys celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Nathan LOVED it. Shana had thought of everything – it was so cute!

My friend Jamie had given Nathan a bunch of her son’s old clothes and this has become a new favorite. It was perfect for Seuss Day! Nathan calls it his “I am Sam” shirt. 😉

The boys decorating one-fish-two-fish fishbowls and truffala trees – these turned out just adorable.

Playing a game. 🙂

This was my favorite – the themed lunch! SO cute.

We had a quiet Saturday at home, finished reorganizing our garage and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Nathan FINALLY got a haircut after us putting it off for two weeks. 😉 I woke up Sunday with a really stiff neck, so after church we hung around the house for awhile and then had dinner at my parents’ house. It’s still really sore – not sure what I did to it, but I’m writing this with an ice pack around my neck and shoulder. Ugh.

And, as per usual, we were with Uncle Bryant this weekend and last weekend and when I was looking on my phone for pictures for this post, I found these:

Anytime those two are together my phone somehow gets stolen and used for entertainment purposes. They have too much fun together. 😉

P.S. I have a contest going for a free copy of one of my e-novellas, Easter Carats, on my Facebook page! Come by for a chance to win!
