Well. It is time.

Not to sound too much like Rafiki off of The Lion King, but…

It is time.

Time for sunless tanners, that is. What can I say? I’m getting a little tired of people spontaneously bursting into “White As Snow” whenever I pass by them. Or pulling their sunglasses out at the sight of my arms. And since the weather has been SO nice lately, the arms have been a lot more visible to the general public.

In the past, I’ve used Jergens Natural Glow, but I’m not the HUGEST fan of the scent that seems to follow me around after I put it on until I take a shower.

My friend Jen uses Banana Boat Summer Color (and she’s got gorgeous skin, so I can’t really argue with her!). Plus, I’ve been around her after she’s put it on and she still smells as pretty as she always does.

You guys have any suggestions?? What’s your favorite sunless tanner?

We’ve been laying low the last couple of days, recovering from the madness that was our weekend. 🙂 Nathan has discovered that he can pull himself up to a standing position, so now anything and everything exists just so he can try and yank himself up on it (my robe was the lucky winner earlier this morning).

I took his walker outside to the back porch yesterday so we could enjoy the pretty weather. He loved it and was too busy playing for me to get a decent picture of him!

I’ve been roasting a sweet potato for his lunch today – he’s been eating jarred baby food, but I’d really like for him to eat homemade stuff. It’s WAY cheaper (though, it’s a lot bigger hassle, so we’ll see how long this lasts!). He hasn’t been a fan of homemade stuff yet, so we’ll see!!

Another question for you budget-conscious people out there – how do you keep yourself to a grocery budget?? I try SO hard every single month and every single month I go over. Any advice is VERY welcome!!

Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Erynn, we're in the same boat…yesterday someone asked me if I was wearing white tights. Um, no, I really am just this shade of Casper…

    Awkward.

  2. I will definitely start using a sunless tanner when I can reach my legs again…lol The only tanner I've tried is the jergens one, and I agree about the smell. Mary Kay makes one I'm thinking of trying. I also thinking making babyfood is awesome! I used to do it with my friend a couple times a month in big batches and freeze it in ice cube trays then put the cubes in freezer bags till I needed to defrost.

As for sticking to your food budget…it is hard I know. I do meal planning, that helps with not having to throw out ingredients that expire and planning for what's on sale.

  3. Do you have an aldi's by you? My mom shops there a lot & gets good deals.

Another thing she does is buy staples & the adjust her meal planning to what is on sale that week, like the meat & vegetables etc

There's a lot of coupon & money saving websites- moneysavingmom.com
Also, she was $10 dinners on the food network

Another thing she does is portion out only what we eat at that meal & then use the extras for a side dish later or another meal (depends on how much the recipe calls for)
    Hope this helps

  4. We always do really well staying on budget when we meal plan. I try to shop for non-perishable type items only once a month and then only make grocery trips for meats and produce (hint on veggies buy frozen! They last longer and are usually frozen at the peak of freshness as opposed to most produce which ripens in the back of a semi, plus they are often cheaper) The more trips I take to the grocery the more I spend! I have also found that Target has a lot of the things we buy for less than the grocery! Last tip is make a list when you go to the store, and stick to your list, also they say that most of the food you really need is at the perimeter of the store and that they put the snacks and junk food in the middle! Also I found for us, if I try to shop the sales we buy a lot of things we don't like and won't use which is wasted $$. We buy what we like because I know it will get used. Don't feel guilty paying full price as long as it is something you use it is money well spent!
Holy pete that was a soapbox, sorry! Love you friend! And remember that in the Victorian culture the paleness was a sign of wealth and beauty! It's all cultural baby! lol

  5. I have used the Jergens tanner, but like you I didn't care for the smell. I will try the Banana Boat one now.

Also I have a question: How come we can't purchase Double Shot or Latte Daze on erynnmangum.com? I have looked for Double Shot in Mardel and Lifeway, and I have not been able to find it. I hope that we can buy them on your website soon, because I can't wait to find out what happens with Maya and Jack. Plus I would love to have a book autographed by you!

    Have a blessed day!!

  6. Hi Erynn!
A couple of websites that are good for lowering your food budget are: truecouponing.com and southernsavers.com. There's a lot of other websites like those too. Hope this helps you!

  7. I have used Oil of Olay Touch of Sun and eally liked it. ALSO, I have heard GREAT things about emealz.com from several friends and might try it – let's talk about it!!!

  8. Budget – My parents are on the Dave Ramsey budget. My brother and I also took a course. It's easy to understand, and though difficult to discipline, completely worth it. Check out one of his books and radio show clips.

  9. i know you don't like the jergens natural glow scent…. but now they have a new bottle which smells nicer. i have yet to find a brand that works as well as jergen's because the other ones smear or are too orange.
