I’m loving chatting with you guys!
Here’s a couple of questions for YOU now!! π
* What has been your favorite character in the Lauren or Maya series? Why?
* What is your favorite hot drink this time of year?
* And lastly, favorite hair styling product? What can I say… I’m in a rut and need some new ideas! π
YAY!! Loved all of your answers! Here’s some new ones:
* What is the best thing you’ve ever received for Christmas? And why?
* What is your favorite winter time snack?
* What is your favorite thing to have around your house?
Too much fun!!
Ryan is my favorite character of all time right after Fitzwilliam Darcy. π
Hot or iced coffee with a little each of sugar and cream-any time of year!
As far as hair styling… I could use some ideas too. :/
Love coffee and Hot Chocolate. Like the best friends in the series, everyone needs a friend that is loyal. My hair is past my shoulders and I love it can wear up or down.
My favorite character was Ryan because I fell in love with him along with Lauren… which sounds creepy, eh?
My favorite hot drink is hot hazel-nut coffee with whipped cream or marshmellows π
* And lastly, favorite hair styling product? What can I say… I'm in a rut and need some new ideas! π
I use shampoo and conditioner and pull my hair back into a pony-tail. Long bangs and some moose really help π Sorry, that's all I've got π
* Ryan! He was just amazing. And I also love Lauren a lot, she's probably one of my favorite literature heroines. Oh, and I've only read the first book of the Maya series but I'm loving Jack so far!
* Coffee! It tastes so much better in the winter time. I also like cocoa but I haven't had it yet this year.
* Um… I use Head & Shoulders shampoo, brush my hair, and that's about it. π (It's short, so that helps.)
My favorite character is Laurie because she is a hypochondriac. (I would be more specific, but my mother has borrowed the series from me for quite awhile.)
Favorite hot drink: WASSAIL!!!! Can give recipe if you wish. π
Favorite hair styling product: Actual product? I use smoothing serum and mousse, but I now love to braid my hair. YouTube is the best for learning.
Lauren is for sure my fav. character of yours! She's HILARIOUS! I love her dad too!
I would have to say Peppermint mocha for my drink of choice! YUM!
Oh and as far as hair products: I like to mix sea salt with water and spray it on my hair and then add mousse and let it dry! The sea salt brings out natural curl π
*My favorite character is Ryan!!!
*I love Hot chocolate…
*I just use shampoo and conditioner…
1. hmmm, I think my favorites were Jen,Maya, and JAck.
2. Hot Chocolate
3.I like garnier fructis styling paste and their straightning products. you know how some of your characters have some curls? Well, i have lumps and somtimes they just naturally look like i feel asleep on them and they are smushed weird excpet that just the wave in my hair :X
Sorry for the slight delay in responding, y'all. The Nater Tot had some occupancy issues south of the border, if you know what I mean. π So, we got him all cleaned up and fed. Such a demanding child! π He's so happy. I just love him. NOW! On to responses! π
Tiffany Raye – I totally agree on the hot or iced coffee! Anytime of the year is good with me!
Anonymous – I love that you love the best friends in each book. It is SO important to have like-minded friends!
Emma – Doesn't sound creepy at all! I've never put marshmallows in coffee but I know what I'm going to try today now! π
Sky – Yay! I'm definitely seeing a trend here with Ryan! π Totally agree with the hot chocolate. Jon and I get into ruts during the winter drinking that every night!
Elizabeth – I'm so glad you like Laurie's hypochondriacness (is that a word??). I'm just like that. As is my dad. π And yes, please, I do wish for the wassail recipe, especially since it inspired all caps! I want all things that inspire capital letters! π And thanks for the hair tips!
Ashkay – Peppermint Mochas!! Yay! π And what a neat idea about spraying sea salt on your hair! I never would have ever thought about that!! π
Jenneniah – Cool name, by the way! I am now in the mood for hot chocolate thanks to you guys… π
Tonya – Yay for the Cool Beans gang! And I hear you on the lumpy hair – my sister and I call it bumpy hair. Same thing. We've got it too. Isn't it lovely? π I love how Garnier products smell!!
Hi!
My favorite character is Laurie, she is so funny! I love how loyal she is to her friends. My favorite drink is hot chocolate, it's so good. As for my favorite hair product, I definitely like my hair straightener! : )
I like Brandon and Laurie, hot lemonade. And I like using hair clips.
It's really hard to have a favorite character. I love how each of them both like coffee.
My favorite drink is a white chocolate mocha with Different flavors……
Sadly, I don't really use hair stying products. I wash my hair and brush it and pull it back into a ponytail.
Meghan – Laurie's loyalty was based a lot on my sister – she's SUPER loyal! And I'm starting to like the straightener more! I like my hair to have SOME volume though, so it's taken me a bit to learn how to do both.
Brittany Nicole – Hot lemonade? Do you just heat it up in the microwave? That sounds fairly amazing – I might have to try that! π
Rebecca – Yet another sister reference, but my sister LOVES white chocolate mochas, so I was totally reminded of her! And there is no sadness in being able to get ready to walk out the door quickly. I think Jon would probably appreciate it if I could move a little faster fixing my hair…
I can't pick a favorite character. I think I love how fun Lauren is and how unique Jack is.
My favorite drink any time of the year is the apple juice slush from Sonic, which they no longer serve. π It's so hot in Houston that I have never gotten into the "winter" drinks.
Hair–I got my hair straigtened by my stylist, which lasts about 6 months..saves on morning routine. Now, I just wash and go.
About the characters….I want to know what happens with Ethan in the Maya series! The end of the book leaves an opening for more books, especially with him. I hope we'll find out one day.
* What has been your favorite character in the Lauren or Maya series? Why? Probably Maya, because I found myself in her
* What is your favorite hot drink this time of year? tall-nonfat-vanilla latte with chocolate shavings.
* And lastly, favorite hair styling product?
um spritz conditioner from biolage
(not really a product girl)
Laura J – I've never tried the apple juice slush from Sonic, but it sounds good! And ugh about living in Houston during Christmas. One of my friends lives in Dallas and her family would always turn the AC to the 50s on Christmas Day so they could wear their Christmas sweaters! π Great idea with the hair stylist by the way! Maybe there will be another Maya book someday… I'd like to find out what happens to Ethan too!
Helga-Marie – Oh yum about the vanilla latte and the chocolate shavings. I'm not sure that there's been a better food invention since chocolate shavings. π
Oh yeah! Okay, I forgot about Brandon. I really like him too. And Laurie's dad, because he just cracks me up. π And I really like Hannah and Hallie, and Lexi…
Okay, I'm really bad at picking favorite characters. Maybe I'll just stick with Ryan. π
I'm late to the party!!
My favorite characters are probably Hannah and Lauren!
My fave drink (from a coffee shop) is a toffee nut latte. Our local coffee shop makes them. My fave that I make is a white choc. mocha…
Hmm…hair products…probably After Party by Bed Head. It's pricey but lasts for a year!
Sky – You are funny! π Love that!
Rebecca – OH. Toffee Nut Latte. Yumish! π And I'm all for products that last for a year! It seems like I usually end up getting ones that last for about two weeks (or one use, if I don't end up liking them).
All right, friends, time for some new questions! π Check in the post above!
π
Max and my 1st Christmas I asked for a teal box with a silver bow… we all know what I was hinting at, well I ended up getting a teal ipod that he had loaded with Christmas Music and Jayne Austen novels- oh and it was wrapped in silver paper with a silver bow!!
This time of year, I am a total sucker for Monkey Bread (though my efforts to make it almost always fail, Mom makes it perfect) oh and candy canes stired in hot chocolate, with white chocolate shavings (I love chocolate shavings)
#1 my boys (husband and baby)
#2 my books all color coordinated
(which means erynn is located on every bookshelf)
#3 knitting, everything is better with a cheesy movie, hot cup of coffee and knitting
Thank you! π I love the Lauren Holbrook series. I read it on a six-month basis, if not less than that. I'm not even kidding. π
* Hmm. Probably my family's van. π Yes, we got a van for Christmas one year. It was a huge blessing.
* Hmm. I like peanut brittle. Our friend brought us this week. I also like brownies. And apple pie. Mmm. Oh wait, those aren't snacks. Do desserts count?! π
* Hmm. (These questions are taking a lot more thought! LOL!) I like all the Christmas decorations up around this time of year, especially the tree. I love all the lights. They are so beautiful, and they remind me of the Light of the World. π
Helga-Marie –
How creative of Max! π Is Monkey Bread the one that is butterscotch biscuits that you bake all together so they pull-apart? And awesome answers on the household things π

_________
Best thing for Christmas: A new Bichon frise puppy.
I was very much attached to our 4yr old Great Dane who we suddenly had to put down a year before. We were given a new puppy after being forcibly told we would never have a dog again. I was very upset when we got her, but after seeing how scared she was of people, I knew I had to protect her. She's my baby now, though she's officially my sister's dog. She rides in a backpack over my shoulders when I have to do anything that requires a lot of movement.
Favorite winter snack: White chocolate covered Oreos and Oreo truffles.
Favorite thing to have around the house: Bowls of plain M&Ms and lighted candles smelling of Christmas trees.
Sky – A van is HUGE Christmas gift! That's awesome! π I love peanut brittle too and yes, desserts definitely count! And you are a girl after my own heart with the Christmas decorations! π
Elizabeth – I want to come live at your house. Wassail sounds AMAZING. And Oreo Truffles? And M&Ms? Oh my… Question – do you make these truffles or buy them?
I'm not alone with the lumps/bumps. Mine also flips up at the end like I'm "that girl" it rarely settles downs & I've stopped fighting it! I guess it's good I'm moving to TX bc my hair has a lot of volume & likes to get big
1. Hmmm, Β I remember being thrilled the year I got dear diary- hahaha!
2. I'd have to say Church windows. It's a Christmas tradition in my family.
3. My fleece blanket or warm rice bag
My favorite character was Laurie. She was my favorite because, I am like her in a lot of ways like how I take my coffee and being sarcastic. And right now my favorite coffee drink is white choc. mocha :)yum. My favorite hairstyling product is gel, mouse(sp)and some silky thing. cause my hair is curly.Best Christmas gift would have to be when I got the Lauren Holbrook series and they were signed. My favorite winter time snack well, anytime is kettle corn. I like cause its sweet and salty. My favorite thing to have around the house is my kindle and my books and my cell phone LOL.
-Alexis
Haha, I make them!
You need a food processor and combine 1 package of Oreo's with 1 8oz cream cheese. After they're all properly mixed to a weird chocolate blob consistency, you roll them into balls and put them on a pan to go into the fridge.
After they're properly cold and firm, you dip them in melted white chocolate! (This part is the most tedious. But most of the time, the taste is worth it!)
Tonya – Ha! It's usually best to just surrender to your natural hair type… π
Alexis – you are too sweet! I'm so glad that was your favorite Christmas gift! π And I love kettle corn! The only thing I don't like about it is how it gets stuck in your teeth.
Elizabeth – That sounds SO good! I might just have to try it someday soon!
Ha ha, I know what you mean. I have braces now so…. ya its even worse. Oh, and thanks for responding to my email I sent you a while back for my book report (like last month). π
I have to say that I love so many of the characters in both of your series. I especially love Jack in the Maya series! The time when he danced with Maya in the coffee shop is one of my fave parts of that book π I just love the whole crew in the Lauren books too, they remind me of how my friends and I communicate. Especially with all of their "loving" comments to each other π
Hey Erynn!
The best thing that I got for Christmas when I was a kid was definitely a lime green bike! I loved to ride it,it was so much fun! My favorite gift that I have gotten more recently is a Kindle, do you have a kindle? I love being able to get books that you want in an instant! My favorite winter time snack is any kind of Christmas cookie and fudge. What is your favorite winter snack? I like to watch Christmas movies, and listen to Christmas music! All of the decorations for Christmas are so pretty and it is fun to have the house decorated! What is your favorite Christmas movie, song, and book?
My Vera Bradley bag it is so sturdy i can take it anywhere.
toffee is the best
I love watching white christmas all day long on christmas eve
Hands down Lauren, because we're so similar. Love a Chai Tea Latte. Favorite winter time snack… puppy chow. And, I love having Yankee candles around the house π
Hi!
π I liked Both Lauren and Maya. π
I love white mocha's with flavor… I also really like all the characters.
I don't do much with hairstyles. I usually wear it up.
Alexis – of course! I'm glad I could help!
Ashley – I loved that scene too! I thought Jack was just so sweet. π
Meghan – I don't have a kindle, but I did get an iPhone a little bit ago and there's a Kindle app on it – I LOVE it! So convenient! And there are so many books offered for free! π Favorite Christmas movie? Probably White Christmas. When we watch that, I know it's Christmastime! Music changes with the year, but I've always loved Steven Curtis Chapman's Christmas CDs. And book? Oh goodness… I have NO idea! Too many favorites! π
Anonymous – Yay for White Christmas! π
Natalie – Oh, I have become a HUGE Chai fan lately! I have a cup every morning! It's such a good winter drink! π And puppy chow – YUM. What's your favorite candle flavor?
Rebecca – What's your favorite flavor to put in the white mochas?
I love reading your books and blog and I think this is such a cool idea.
I think my favorite character is Maya because I tend to be like her. I even have the same hair issues!
I love peppermint mochas all year round. π It's the only coffee I drink.
My hair does this wavy/curly thing that mostly looks good as long as a scrunch it up, so I pretty much just take advantage of that. I'm not much help with hair.
I think my favorite present is a necklace my parents gave me a while ago. It's star shaped with blue topaz (I think) for the points and a sapphire in the middle.
My favorite winter snack is peppermint M&M's, which they only make this time of year. Best candy ever!
I'm a total candle person. I love cinnamon and clove buds, cranberry woods, and tis the season candles from Bath and Body in particular.
I feel like I'm all caught up now. π
Katie – Loved your answers! I've been having so much fun reading about everyone! π I take it you are something of a peppermint fan! π I'm a candle girl too – my only problem with candles is I tend to forget they are lit and leave the house… oops. Not good. Not good.
I'm not sure if you're asking me…but I'll answer it. I guess I should go by Becca. π
I like putting Irish cream and Cinnamon in my white chocolate.
Oh and another drink I like, is something I sorta created after my attempt at Autumn Tea. My friend made it and it tasted great, I tried it..and it didn't taste the same.
I only ever got a 16oz cup….
Put about an inch of black tea into your cup. Then 1 1/2 pumps of cinnamon. Fill the cup up with steamed apple cider. and enjoy.
I'm a total peppermint fan. π I even have the body stuff from Bath and Body. And I know about the candles. I always go home and then feel like an idiot.
oh ha haha I'm rebecca . with little oak farms. but i finally figured out the blogger account i used to have.
:-)now i guess i'm becca facts.
Becca – Ha! π I totally do that with accounts all the time! π And oh wow, I am trying your Autumn Tea tonight or tomorrow. That sounds awesome!
Katie – Me too. I hate feeling like that! π
Kristen – I have loved all the conversations too! This has been so fun! And thank you! π
Cool! π Let me know how you like it. π If you put to much tea in it, it will have more of that black tea taste.
Oh, and I know how Maya feels….with her wedding planning. I just finished mine. π It was fun but crazy sometimes.
On the plus side, at least the house smells good! π
Thanks so much for doing this, Erynn! It's been so fun to get to 'meet' you. Thank you for writing some of my favorite books ever, and for inspiring me to write my own!
Bye the way, the Nater Tot is totally cute (I love him! Can I give him a virtual hug?! π and I'll be praying for you and your family! Thanks again!
*Bye should be by in that comment. I didn't proof read my comment before I posted it. LOL. I really CAN spell! π
My favourite character would have to be Laurie, she (like me… im told…) can seem pretty random all the time… like in converations and the like… my favourite drink in winter would have to be white hot chocolate…
My favourite hair product would be my GHD straightner, its designed to straighten and curl hair (whoever designed it is a genius!!!)…
Best christmas present would be… the GHD Straighter… Favourite dessert would be Bread and Butter Pudding (although it was originally made by poor starving englishmen in the depression, its awesome!!!) And my favourite thing is my bookshelf… with your books at eye level, no-one ever misses them π
Favorite character… it's a little hard to choose between Ryan and Lauren! Lauren I love because of her all her habits which are so similar to mine (chocolate habit, randomness, etc)… and Ryan because you just fall in love with him throughout the series! I love their dynamic! I'm still looking for my Ryan…
Hot drink, I love a good doublebatch of Nestle hot cocoa! Made with milk instead of water, and its absolutely sinful!
Simple is always good for hair, perhaps a little hairspray to make the bangs do what they're SUPPOSED to do, not what they'd like look like.
Best thing for Christmas? Getting a few days off from overtime at work in LA to fly back to the east coast to spend Christmas with the family! I was really bummed out when I thought that production wasnt going to let me off!
Hot homemade cookies, fresh from the oven. Mom can always be counted on for making them at Christmas time!
Best thing around the house? Right now, the artwork I collected from some of my favorite artists last Animation Expo!
Love your books Erynn! They're my go-to whenever I'm in a low mood! π Keep it up! And loving the updates on the Nater-tot, he's precious!
Lexi!! i love her absoulute weirdness.:) π haha and OF COURSE DARCY!!!! that dog has SO much personality!
This is a suggestion for Erynn. I've loved your books. They are very encouraging and uplifting. But, I would love to see you address a problem that I see today.
I didn't become a Christian until I was 20. I was cynical and suspicious of non-Christian guys before and assumed that Christian guys were "safe". Surprise! I know it would be a darker twist, but I'm sure there are sister out there who would like to see a Godly heroine deal with this.
Maya is my ultimate favorite character. Though Lauren, Ryan, and Jack aren't far behind. But Maya came in at a time where I needed your advice in her wording. In fact, both Lauren and Maya came in a point in my life when I needed to hear something (well both main points of the books) from God and for Him to teach me those things and He chose to do it through reading. But Maya the character is so random and hilarious (especially with Andrew and his heart mugs!)that she continues to captivate me. I don't have a favorite hot drink in winter. It's a 10 hair products are amazing. They smell good and make my hair silky soft. But the best thing I received for Christmas was a guitar that I continue to use for church and worshipping Christ. My favorite snack is the Christmas tree cakes. I couldn't live without the blankets and lotion in my house!
Soooo…yah this comment is like super late and possibly a little random seeing as how the last comment was Dec. 8 :O But I shall comment non the less! π
1. Maya and Jack are my favorite!
2. Williams-Sonoma hot chocolate with espresso!!!
3. My hair is so thick, I wash it every other day otherwise it would be so wild and unruly I wouldn't know what to do, but every other day is perfect because then I either do a bump, flatiron (best invention ever), do a scrunchy bun, scrunch with mousse, …and that's pretty much it.
4. My dogs are the best thing I've ever got for Christmas. They were tens year apart and the first one has since passed away, but both times I had a Christmas puppy! π
5. My favorite winter time snack is caramel filled chocolate cookies!
6. My favorite thing around my house, this year, is my Bible and my guitar (so two things actually). For some reason whenever I read my Bible I start playing my guitar, and whenever I play my guitar I start reading my Bible. It's kinda quirky but it makes me happy. π
I know it has been months since the lost comment here, but I just found the blog the other day and have been reading through the old post, and I just have to say the Jack is most definitely my favorite character! (I really thought that opinion was missing in the comments) π
Awesome blog!
