Hey everyone!
Well, it has been a GREAT day! I got nearly 3000 words written this morning, got my grocery shopping done (we can eat again!) and between Jon and I, we got the floors clean and a batch of chocolate chip cookies made. Yay!
We were productive. π
I love productive days! I sleep so much better. And yes, I’m one of those people. π On the days where nothing gets done, I just have issues. So thank you, thank you, thank you for the prayers regarding the deadline! Much was accomplished.
I think something as simple as a smile or a "Hey how are you?" can proclaim Christ's radiance to the world. π
And also, ditto about the productive days… π
Productive days…absolutely get it, and to have cookies as a part of it too….oh yeah.
How to reflect Christ's radiance…I'm still trying to grasp a true definition of that. :s
Still, one way I could think of is e-mail. Helping others think about themselves and their Lord in ways they may not think of can totally be done in the way you sign off your e-mails. It's so easy to sign off with "from" or "cheers" or "may the Lord bless you". Don't get me wrong – I have nothing against signing off like this – I do it from time to time.
Think of this: just as easy as it is to sign off like that, it's easy to skip over when reading too, because you're used to reading it. When you're writing to someone, before you say goodbye, ask yourself is there something simple you truly would want for this person, and type it. "I hope you can see one way God is showing His love for you", "May the Lord keep your hair in place today" (Where I live in CO can have some pretty mean wind!). I hope you get the point. Sometimes getting specific can get both you and whoever you're writing to reflecting on our Saviour & His creation – whether it be on the inside or out.
I would say what jessica said, but me and my friend made up another word for dido: "Stittle" (dont ask). So… stittle about productive days!!
I am one of *those* people as well. I don't feel like I've done much of anything for a week. AAAAUUUGGG!!!
In the past year I've tried to teach myself to have a servant's heart to shine Christ's radiance. Little things like helping an elderly neighbor with groceries, serving iced tea at church potluck, saying hello to people you don't know very well, smiling…it's not very easy, but I'm learning that it's the little things that count.
Shining Christ's radiance…one way that has become practical for me is packing an extra lunch before I leave the house. I am a middle school teacher, so I usually pack a lunch for school, so I have started packing an extra one. I live in Baton Rouge, LA and the Interstate I take to work has a large homeless veteran population. I figured if at some point these men could risk their lives for my freedom, I could certainly pack an extra lunch even on a chance that I may see one of them. I always write "Love, God" on the bag or put a "Pass it On" card in the bag. The cards are only 15 cents at Lifeway Christian Stores and they can make someone's day. I also keep a couple boxes of healthy snacks in my car to hand to them in case I have already given away my lunch bag for the day.
